Peter is an international entrepreneur and investor focused on the mobile provider sector. He has worked in senior executive business development and operations roles in BellSouth, TDC, Millicom and Leap Wireless International winning mobile licenses, and developing mobile providers as Board Director and Chairman to become market leaders in the USA, Russia, Lithuania, Estonia, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Germany, and Denmark.
Among other large scale mobile provider start up projects, he was as CEO responsible for a $1 billion infrastructure rollout and commercial start up of multiple mobile companies in Russia in JVs with the local Russian PTTs, where he served as Chairman of several of the JVs.
Peter is the founder and was the Chairman of End2End, a global mobile data infrastructure provider, which serves all the largest mobile provider in the world, and was sold to the private equity firm Warburg Pincus recently. He also serves on the board of Mach – the leading global mobile roaming clearinghouse, and is a Senior Advisor to UBS – the global investment bank.

Ms. Caroline has responsibility for Virgin Group’s existing and prospective investments across the world and works closely with management teams to support their growth and expansion. She currently sits on the boards of Virgin Active, Virgin Care, Virgin Mobile Middle East & Africa, Virgin Mobile Central & Eastern Europe and Virgin Mobile Poland.
Prior to joining Virgin in 2009, Caroline worked in Mergers & Acquisitions at Goldman Sachs and as a consultant at OC&C Strategy Consultants. Caroline has an M.B.A (Palmer Scholar) from the Wharton Business School and an MA from the University of Cambridge.
Group Legal Director for Virgin Management Limited
Robert is Group Legal Director for Virgin Management Limited, where works closely with the Virgin Group investment team and the Virgin operating companies. Robert’s role covers the whole portfolio of Virgin Group investments, but he works especially closely with the Virgin Group telecoms and media team on their development and expansion of Virgin’s media and telecom interests across the world.
Prior to joining Virgin in 2010, Robert spent 10 years as a lawyer at MacFarlane’s LLP, where he worked closely with a number of venture capital and private equity houses as well as the Virgin Group. Robert has an MA from Cambridge University.
Vice President of Technology and Telecoms at Gulf Investment Corporation (GIC)
Fahad holds the position of Vice President of Technology and Telecoms at Gulf Investment Corporation (GIC), focusing on identifying and appraising investments, managing portfolio companies and evaluating potential divestment and M&A opportunities.
Fahad was part of the GIC team bidding for and developing the Marafiq and Shuqaiq Independent Water and Power Projects (“IWPP”) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The combined cost of both projects is approximately USD 5.3 billion. The GIC consortia won both projects.
He was also involved in establishing Gulf Reinsurance Limited (“Gulf Re”). Gulf Re is a Dubai based reinsurance company with a focus on reinsuring high value assets in the GCC.
Fahad currently serves on the Board of Directors of Wataniya Telecom Algeria (“WTA”) and of Tawasul Telecom.
Fahad holds an MBA and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Denver.
Mohamed Omer Eissa
Head of Technology & Telecom Investments at Gulf Investment Corporation (GIC)
Mohamed holds the position of Head of Technology & Telecom Investments at Gulf Investment Corporation (GIC). He has 17 years of experience in operations, business development and venture capital in high tech and telecom.
He was previously head of business development and M&A for Andrew Corporation’s Network Solutions Group. He was a principal at Lucent’s New Ventures Group, which launched numerous startups from Bell Labs, including, Celiant, Flarion, Intrado and Lucent Digital Radio among others. He serves on the boards of Virgin Mobile Middle East, Wataniya Telecom Algeria and Tawasul Telecom. Mohamed holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Mikkel is the Director of Virgin Mobile Middle East & Africa, with close to 20 years of telecom experience. Mikkel has a proven track record in successfully building mobile providers from the initial licensing phase through to growing them into thriving and profitable businesses. Mikkel is dedicated to ensuring that Virgin Mobile Middle East & Africa further extends its position as the leading MVNO/MVNE player in the region.
Mikkel began his career in management consulting, working across a diverse range of telecom projects across Europe, Asia and Africa. He progressed rapidly through the ranks of both established and start-up telecom operators, including Ben Netherlands, Singapore Telecom and TDC. Prior to setting up Virgin Mobile Middle East & Africa, Mikkel was the Chief Commercial Officer for Nawras in Oman, leading all commercial activities from pre-launch until the company was successfully established with a 20%-plus market share just 12 months after launch.
Currently settled in Dubai, UAE, Mikkel is married with three kids. When he’s not travelling, Mikkel enjoys a spot of sailing and running.
Mikkel qualified with a Masters degree in Economics and Business Administration from Copenhagen Business School, and has completed a marketing and management programs from McGill University and INSEAD.
Managing Partner at ePlanet Capital
Rupam Shrivastava, CFA is Managing Partner at ePlanet Capital. Mr. Shrivastava covers sourcing, evaluation, execution and management of early stage technology investments worldwide. His particular focus is on artificial intelligence and machine learning related businesses. His noteworthy investments at ePlanet include, Virgin Mobile Latin America, Virgin Mobile Central and Eastern Europe, Naseeb Networks and the Singularity University.
Prior to ePlanet, he worked at Afrimax Vodafone as SVP Strategy and Business Development. At Afrimax, he focused on fundraising and financing and new geography expansion for Vodafone branded businesses throughout sub-Saharan Africa. He has also worked with Dresdner Kleinwort in New York as an investment banker, focusing on mergers and acquisitions in the automotive, aerospace, defense, and healthcare sectors; and also at the Technical University of Munich for the development of battery efficient cell phones. Mr. Shrivastava is affiliated with think tanks such as the Singularity University, the TechCast project and The Communities of the Future.
He holds a double MBA degree from the University of California, Berkeley and the Columbia University. He also holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He is also a CFA, CAIA and FRM Charterholder.
Erik Dudman Nielsen
Founder & Group Chief Executive Officer
Erik founded Virgin Mobile Middle East & Africa together with Mikkel Vinter in 2006 and he has more than 20 years of experience in mobile telecoms in both MNO and MVNO. Erik has a proven track record of building successful MVNOs in the world including in Saudi Arabia starting from the acquisition of the initial license and subsequently holding the position as chairman in the operational entity since inception. Erik is dedicated to ensuring that Virgin Mobile Middle East & Africa maintains its position as the leading MVNO/MVNE player in the region with particular focus on the Middle East.
For the first five years, he held the position of Chief Financial Officer being was responsible for all financial activities, including local and global debt and equity fundraising. From 2011 until the middle of 2018 he worked as Chief Business Development Officer focussing on developing new business opportunities and nurturing the relationship with our JV partners across the region.
During his career, Erik has held many senior positions across several different countries in Europe, working with both frequency-based and MVNO-based greenfield mobile companies and traditional telecom companies offering both fixed and mobile services.
Prior to Virgin Mobile Middle East & Africa, Erik was Chief Executive Officer of Realtime, a global VAS provider, where he successfully managed a turnaround of the business and developed a strong growth strategy for the company in Europe, South America and the Middle East. Between 2000 and 2003, Erik was the Chief Financial Officer of a telco corporate venture fund.
Erik graduated from the University of Aarhus with a Masters degree in Economics and Business Administration in 1994.
Married and living in Dubai with 3 children, Erik is an enthusiastic runner and enjoys spending time with his family and visiting new places in the region.
Ahmed bin Yousuf bin Alawi Al Ibrahim
Mr. Ahmed bin Yousuf bin Alawi Al Ibrahim represents Dolphin International LLC a diversified Omani investment group with interests across multiple sectors including banking, infrastructure, education, healthcare, telecommunication, biotechnology, advertisement, real estate, construction, surgical products and energy. Mr. Ahmed bin Yousuf bin Alawi Al Ibrahim, is an accomplished executive, investor and entrepreneur with experience in multimillion-dollar global operations, holding many positions of trust, including being the Chairman of Raysut Cement Company, the biggest producer of cement in Oman.
Financier and Venture Capitalist
Jay is in an international financier and venture capitalist. He has an impressive track record funding and building successful mobile operator ventures around the world. He was involved in the formation of NASDAQ listed Millicom International Cellular , and developed the company as President and CEO to a worldwide wireless operator with more than 30 operating companies in 20 countries in Russia, Asia, Africa and Latin America.
While at Millicom Jay was a Director of Tele2, which has wireless operations in Sweden and the Baltics as well as MVNOs and broadband service providers in multiple companies across Europe. He was also a shareholder, board member and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Celtel, the pan African operator with 14 mobile operators, which was acquired by MTC of Kuwait. Jay has over 25 years of experience in developing international mobile operators all over the world.
